In continuation of my Despatch lo. 260 of the
23rd. ultimo, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of a report by Mr. A. E. Wood on a visit of inspection he recently made to the West River in the district to which relief from this
Colony has been principally applied.

The subscriptions raised by the Tung Wa Hospital from Chinese and Europeans in the Colony and from Chinese abroad now amount to £548,249 inclusive of the contributions of the
Hongkong Government and of a sum of £38,000 the balance of the
Relief Fund raised in connection with the flood last year.
